A few have been asking and some will care... My thoughts on Gym Vs. At Home workouts!

I feel I can give a knowledgeable opinion about this since I was once a big time gym goer myself. I started going at a young age with my mom and continued through college and into my adult life. It wasn't until recently I gave up my gym membership. Why? Well because I just wasn't using it anymore.

I like many never took at home fitness serious. I thought really it was a joke! I mean who can really get that great of a workout from just putting in a video?!? Right!? I also felt that I lacked the motivation to complete a fitness program at home. I had this idea I needed a gym environment to keep me going.

So when I went to the gym I worked out 3-4 days a week and two of those days I did classes. Classes gave me structure and I liked structure! However, on those days that the classes were too full (which was often!) I had to do my own thing. Now this is where it gets a little sloppy! I had no personal trainer telling me what to do or really any idea what exactly I needed to be doing to get results. I had in my head cardio, cardio, cardio... then a weight machine here and then there! This girl was LOST!

I had zero structure and I ended up cutting my workouts short most of the time. I had no clock and no one telling me to keep going. I figured, hey that was long enough, right? Does anyone else feel a little lost at the gym? Now at the time I never felt that I was lost I thought I was doing what I needed to be doing. Until later learning that I had no structure and that working out for over a hour was so unnecessary!

Once I began at home fitness programs like 21 day fix, Max30, Pump, and T25 I realized that there was really no need to go to the gym anymore! I could now workout with my kiddo running circles around me (no yucky childcare rooms!... so many kids in it sometimes!). I could get my workout done in 30 minutes and I now worked out 5-6 days a week instead of 3-4! It was so much easier to do it at home and I no longer had a excuse not too! I didn't have to drive there, I didn't have to load up Reese's stuff and I didn't need to even get out of my PJs if I didn't want too!... and sometimes I didn't!

I found myself MORE motivated to do my workouts! The programs where structured and followed a schedule. The 21 day fix came with a killer nutrition plan and the portion control containers! Which only maximized my results and only required 30 minute workouts a day instead of over a hour!

The best part was I had my challenge groups continuing to push me more and more each day!

So my point is don't knock it until you try it! Cause I was one of those that said, "I need to go to the gym I won't be motivated enough to workout at home." Not often to do I like to point out that I am eating my words but in this case it needed to be reveled!

I Danielle Lickteig was wrong... there I said it! Are you happy Beachbody?
