𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐏!!! and guess what!? You don't have to meal prep if it's not your thing!!! Let me share more!!! 𝙂𝙊𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝘼𝙏 𝙉𝙊𝙊𝙉 on my Facebook page to 𝘾𝙇𝘼𝙍𝙄𝙁𝙔 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙉 𝙈𝙊𝙍𝙀
I get overwhelmed by meal prep too! So if you see someones perfectly packaged food all ready for the week and it makes you anxious, well I totally get it! I have some clients and coach friends that are so good at meal prep and for them it's the best way that they can be sure that they are staying on track. However, it's not the only way to stay on track and be prepared!! You honestly have to find what works for 𝐘𝐎𝐔!!
So let me share what it is that I do...
1️⃣ I keep a stocked fridge by going to the grocery once a week 2️⃣ I feed my kids healthy snacks, so I'm not tempted to eat the junk snacks that are often given to kids as options 3️⃣ I am always sure I have plenty of veggies on hand and enough fruit. You don't need a ton of fruit!!! I only buy bananas and apples. Sometimes I will buy a seasonal fruit that's on sale. But I don't like to dice a bunch of fruits so I pick the fruit that is easy to grab and go! 4️⃣ I limit processed carbs and buy the ones I don't want to binge eat!!! Foe example popcorn and pretzels are not my fave, so it's super easy to limit myself and only use for kids snacks! 5️⃣ I rotate my lunch and breakfast to make 2-3 things that are quick and easy to make! 6️⃣I always have a protein, veggie, and healthy carb planed for dinner. I use my guided portions to help me select the items on this one! Normally choosing the carbs at the top of the "yellow" carb list that are high in fiber! 7️⃣ We only make 2 recipes a week, otherwise keep it to basic cooking with a protein, veggie, healthy carb combo. 8️⃣ I use my crockpot a lot!!! Sometimes I will prep chicken to eat on for lunch through the week with a good organic simmer sauce or taco seasoning! It's so easy to quickly through it on a salad, wrap, or over rice. 9️⃣ If I'm going out the next day and won't be home (for example I work from the coffee shop a lot) I will make my lunch up the night before for the next day.
It's ok if you are like me and not a MEAL PREP PERSON!!! You don't have to be, but you do have to be prepared!!! That's the key to my success! I have a stocked fridge for not just me, but my kids too, that way we are all eating healthy. This is a lifestyle for not just me, but also for my family!!! I want to teach them that it doesn't have to be hard if they just make the right selections!!
So no matter what you do, you have to make sure it works for you!!! If you love to meal prep, don't stop!! That's what works for you, but my point is if you don't love to meal prep then I don't want you to assume that's the only way to get healthy, reach your goals, and get results. Because I'm here to say it's not!! With the nutrition program i follow it teaches you to meal prep from advanced prep for the week, but also teaches you to just be prepared with limited meal prep.
In our groups it's encouraged to do what works for you!! There are weekly meal plans shared that are optional to follow or I encourage just pulling a new recipe to try for the week! When you try new recipes you will start to have a collection of family favorites that you can easily turn to for dinner!
Don't overthink it!! You can do it and it doesn't have to be overwhelming, but you do have to at least start.
